SoCalCamping.com's July 2006 Camping Trip
Where: Santa Rosa Mountain
When: Saturday July 22 - Sunday July 23
Group Size: up to 15 individuals and/or 7 vehicles.
This trip must have at least 3 participants to occur.
Trip details:
Escape the summer heat and smog at one of our favorite places, Santa Rosa Mountain.
At 8000 feet, the air is clean and cool, and the views of Palm Springs to the north
and Anza Borrego to the south are absolutely outstanding. On a clear day, you can see
down to Mexico. Bring a jug to fill up at Santa Rosa Spring, the best tasting spring water
in southern California. We will visit the site of 'Desert Steve' Ragsdale's cabin, and view
the Fire Warnings he used to paint directly on the trees. Time permitting, we may take a
side trip to Toro Peak to examine the microwave relay tower and helicopter wreck site below
the peak. Dogs are allowed on this trip, however leashes are required.
