Coachella Valley National Wildlife Refuge
Name: Coachella Valley National Wildlife Refuge
Location: Take I-10 to the Cook Street. The refuge is mostly closed to the public, but does have a hiking/horseback
trail.
Comments: Note that this is not an especially productive bird watching area, but is home to a thriving population
of reptiles and mammals. The dune system here is closed to recreation and provides habitat to the endangered
Coachella Valley fringe-toed lizard (Uma inornata).
