Name: Salton Sea National Wildlife Refuge
Location: Take the I-10 east to the 111 south then west on Sinclair Road about 6 miles to the visitor center.
Comments: One of the hotest birding areas in Southern California, the refuge covers over 33000 acres of mostly
salt marsh (fluctuates during drought and flood). Over 350 species have been spotted here including
many migratory shorebirds and waterfowl during the winter months. Endangered or threatened species at
the refuge Peregrine Falcon, the Bald Eagle, the Yuma Clapper Rail and the California Brown Pelican.
