Location: 15 miles SW of Indio. Directions: Approx 10 miles S of Indio on Hwy 86, take trail W to Martinez Canyon. (909) 597-9823

Comments: 103,862 acres. Vegetation consists of scrub and succulent plants. This area is habitat for the largest herd of protected penninsular bighorn sheep in the U.S. A refuge and ecological reserve are adjacent to this area to protect habitat and species. The golden eagle and prairie falcon can also be found here.
