Current conditions: (Updated 3/30/08) The season has started off with a bang for the few anglers on Big Bear Lake! While shore anglers have been scoring nice holdover Rainbow Trout on inflated nightcrawlers and Nitro baits, now the trollers are in on the action too. Big Bear Marinas launch ramp is the only public launch ramp open now, and with rental boats available the lake is starting to buzz with the sound of outboard motors. Surface water temperatures are at 48 degrees and with plenty of oxygen from top to bottom the fish are everywhere. Trolling the top with CD Rapalas has worked well with Hot Mustard Muddler the hot color of the week. Leadcore trolled at 2 colors with Brass and Nickel Bikini Neddlefish in tow has done well too.
