Lake Cuyamaca

Location: I-5 south to I-805 south in San Diego County. Take 805 to I-8 east to Hwy 79. North on 79 to the lake.

Hours: Daily 6am to sunset.

Fees: $5, $2.50 for kids.

Facilities:Tackle store, boat rentals, camping.

Species: Trout, Smallmouth bass, Catfish, Crappie, Bluegill, Sturgeon.

Stocking: Trout stocked all year.

License: Required.

Comments: Cuyamaca State Park has camping, hiking, birdwatching. Waterfowl hunting on Wednesdays and Thursdays during duck season.

Current conditions: (Updated 4/06/08) Trout Bait: 12-16 inch leader off the bottom inflated night crawler smeared with scent, Power Bait. Power Worms fished 18 inches below a bobber. (Pautzkes Krill gel or liquid Krill scent) Best Trout Lures: Clown Rapala, Thomas Buoyant, Silver Kastmaster. Use scent (Krill gel works best) Best Trout Spots: Pumphouse Cove, Island, Fox Hole, Lone Pine, Chambers Park.
