Lost Horse Mine

Name: Lost Horse Mine

Location: Inside Joshua Tree National Monument.

Access: Paved roads, 2wd vehicles OK. Some hiking required to view the site.

Comments: Its a four mile hike from the parking area to the mine, but well worth the walk. Rusting remains of the mining operations are everywhere; iron vats, rail cars, machinery, a 10-stamp mill, piles of cans and bottles, remains of a bunkhouse, etc. See SoCalCamping.com's Hiking Database for more info about this trail.
