Red Mountain

Name: Red Mountain

Location: Take Hwy 395 north. Red Mountain is just before reaching the Inyo County line.

Access: Paved roads, 2wd vehicles OK.

Comments: Gold was discovered here in 1895. By the turn of the century, population had boomed to 3500. This town is still alive, with a population of about 150, and several active mines.
