Stonewall Mine
Name: Stonewell Mine
Location: San Diego County. Look for turnoff headed east from Hwy 79 about 1.5 miles south of Cuyamaka Dam. Proceed 1 mile, mine site is on right side of road.
Access: Paved roads, 2wd vehicles OK.
Comments: Mine is located inside Cuyamaka State Park, and an old cabin is maintained as a
museum. The mine was discovered by a W. Skidmore in 1870, and named after Andrew 'Stonewall' Jackson.
Over $1 million of gold ore was extracted from the mine before closing in 1926 when the mine collapsed.
