Comments: Take I-8 east. Exit south at the 94 (Manzanita/Boulevard exit). Turn east on old highway 80, past Boulevard. Turn north on McCain Valley Road. Pass under the freeway. After about 2 miles, the pavement ends. Continue straight north on the dirt road. Around 32°42'00", 116°15'34", take the graded road to the northeast to Sacatone Overlook. This 2 mile detour off the trail is well worth the drive. Sacatone Overlook has some great views of the famous San Diego & Arizona railroad trestle, and the Carizo Gorge. After this little detour, head back to McCain Valley Road and proceed north. At 32°43'24", 116°15'34", turn west. About 3/4 miles will take you to Lark Canyon Campground, or proceed another 7 miles to Cottonwood Campground.
