Whipple Mountain Powerline Road

Trailhead Access: Take Hwy 62 East to the Colorado River. At 114°18'07"W, just before the 62 crosses into Arizona, turn north on Parker Dam Road. Proceed about 15.36 miles to the Parker Dam substation. Turn west proceed another 2.39 miles past Gene Substation. You will see a powerline headed northwest. Follow the access road.

Elevation Gain/loss: Low point: 719 feet, High point: 1293 feet
Starts at: 34°17'36"N, 114°10'26"W
Ends at: 34°28'21"N, 114°31'13"W
Comments: You are likely to see plenty of wild desert burros on this 29 mile trail winding up into the Whipple Mountains, with great views of Lake Havasu to the north, across 2 major dry riverbeds (be prepared for sand) and across the Chemehuevi Indian Reservation. Road ends at Lake Havesu Road. SoCalCamping.com rates this trail as easy.
