Name: Joshua Tree National Park

Location: Take the I-10 Frwy east to 62 north and east. Turn south into the park.

Comments: Wildflower season is brief in the desert, but usually around mid-march the desert floor explodes with yellow dandelions, pink Lupines, gold poppies and yellow coreopsis. The higher elevations often hold the best displays. Watch for Indian Paintbrush and Rock Goldenbush, as well as large white Datura. In the southern part of the park, look for the dark red flowers on the Ocotilla and green blooms on the Teddy Bear Cholla. A wide variety of wildflowers can be found in the washes below any of the palm oasis in the park.
